7/31/2006 9:15 a.m. REDMOND/BEND, ORE. – Horizon Air will begin new twice-daily nonstop service from Redmond/Bend to Los Angeles International Airport tomorrow, Aug. 1. The route is not currently operated by any other airline. The inaugural flight will depart Redmond/Bend at 10 a.m. and be operated in Horizon's recently unveiled 25th anniversary Q400 aircraft, which sports a festive livery celebrating the airline's 25 years of service to the Northwest. After Aug. 1, the first flight of the day between Redmond/Bend and Los Angeles will leave at 6 a.m. |

"These new nonstop flights will strengthen business ties between Central Oregon and Southern California while making it easier for Californians to explore and enjoy Central Oregon's vast recreational and leisure activities," said Dan Russo, Horizon's director of marketing and communications. To kick off the new service, Horizon is offering a limited special introductory fare of $99 one way on its Redmond/Bend to Los Angeles flights taken between Aug. 1 and Nov. 17, 2006. The flight time will be only 2 hours and 35 minutes on Horizon's 74-seat Q400s, which have a top cruising speed of 400 mph. Horizon's complimentary inflight service features a variety of snacks and beverages, including Starbucks coffee and Northwest wines and microbrews.
