Sixty-one percent (61%) of companies are overspending on promotions
Boston, MA — October 4, 2007
BOSTON, MA – October 4, 2007 – The recent research report “Plan, Spend, and Prosper: Making the Most of Trade Promotion,” published by Aberdeen, a Harte-Hanks company (NYSE: HHS), surveyed more than 250 companies to reveal that 61% of companies have reported overspending on trade promotions when compared to the trade budget allocations. Aberdeen data revealed that one of the chief reasons for the overspend is the fact that 70% of consumer product and food service companies are still using fragmented spreadsheets, assumption-based trade plans, and legacy systems to develop trade promotion plans. These practices are leading poor forecast accuracy across different retail channel formats and high trade overspends. |

Boeing is the world's leading aerospace company and the largest manufacturer of commercial jetliners and military aircraft. The primary products of Boeing's Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) Rotorcraft Division are helicopters. The division's Pennsylvania manufacturing plant maintained 20 storage areas within a seven-building campus. These areas, used to stage supplier materials for manufacturing, occupied significant space and impeded the efficient flow of goods and people within the buildings. Boeing selected New Breed to implement a solution that supported its lean manufacturing strategy. |

Air France will use services from DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Exel Supply Chain for managing the distribution and return of aeronautical parts. DHL is already managing the spare parts Supply Chain for Air France. DHL handles the transport of spare parts for Air France Industries throughout Europe with points of activity for Germany and the United Kingdom. This activity accounts for a monthly volume of around 1,000 outbound shipments and 800 inbound receipts. DHL is providing a similar service for Netherlands based KLM, a Dutch airline. |
|
From the urgent transport of small parcels to specialized Logistics services, DHL uses its know-how to respond to the needs of Air France Industries, a major player in a very specialized industry. By combining the varied business expertise of DHL Express, DHL Exel Supply Chain and DHL Global Forwarding, DHL allows Air France Industries to focus on its core business. Emilie Quemeneur, transport-logistics buyer for Air France Industries, emphasized: "DHL has the advantage of offering a fully integrated package, managed by a cross-disciplinary team, which limits the number of our representatives. The needs of Air France Industries are very diverse, including the handling of regulated products that have abnormal weights and dimensions and also returns. It was very important for us to have a single service provider capable of using and coordinating a large number of skills effectively, a mission that DHL carries out very well." |
