Wincanton Builds Its Construction Credentials

Building on its existing relationships with Brett Landscaping and Building Products, leading Supply Chain provider Wincanton has secured an additional contract, resulting in it managing all national distribution for the building materials specialist. The addition to the current service offering will see Wincanton transport well in excess of 100 loads each day as part of a £7m a year agreement. The contract was secured on account of Wincanton's ability to maximise cost savings through improved efficiencies and load planning.

The new contract follows Brett's acquisition of Tarmac TopPave in 2006, which required additional distribution and more complex load planning while retaining all operations under a single supplier. Under the new contract, Wincanton will collect loads from sites in Poole, Pocklington, Cliffe and Barrow as well as Brett's new distribution centre at Junction 29 of the M25 and deliver a variety of materials to builders' merchants and construction sites across the UK.
