GAC Samudera Logistics awarded ISO 9001:2000 Certification

GAC Samudera Logistics (GSL), a joint venture between the GAC Group and Samudera Indonesia Group, has achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification in quality management system for its logistics operations. Core to GSL's business in Indonesia is its US$9 million warehousing and distribution facility in Cikarang, East Jakarta.

ISO 9001:2000 judges a company's quality management system based on: identification of the various business activities within the organisation, their interaction with other external forces, and the management of these activities. The new standard continuously evaluates customer feedback, enabling the company to improve its understanding of customer requirement and satisfaction levels.

To maintain this qualification, GSL is focusing on a number of factors, says GSL's Managing Director Dag Bore. Firstly, a proactive, measurable system to monitor customer satisfaction. Secondly, a strong set of quality objectives established at corporate, regional, departmental and functional levels. And thirdly a strategic review of the process approach to explore departmental interaction. The new standard also emphasises preventive action instead of mere corrective action.

ISO 9001:2000 certification is part of GAC's ongoing plans to comply with all the new measures to ensure the highest quality standards for its customers globally.
